Summer is the perfect time to go camping.
If you love the outdoors and are getting ready to head to a campground that has lakes, rivers, or a pool, you’ll want to be prepared.
Here are five items you’ll want to make sure are on your camping checklist to make your camping experience and time on the water a great one!
1. Drinking Water
This might seem like an obvious one, but one of the most important things to bring on your camping trip is water to drink!
Water is especially important when you’re spending a lot of time outside and being active in the heat.
Always stay hydrated, even when you’re on the water in a boat or sitting on the side and dipping your feet in to cool off.
Taking an extra moment to put a bottle of water in your bag, or even store a few in a portable cooler will be worth it.
You’ll be thankful when that thirst hits!
If you’re spending a lot of time outside in the summertime, it’s always a great idea to wear sunscreen.
This is especially the case when you’re on the lake, the river, or even in a pool.
All of that sun reflecting off of the water and onto you means it’s likely you could get sunburn.
Make sure to reapply sunscreen throughout the day to make sure you’re as comfortable as possible during your time on the water!
3. Waterproof Earbuds
Planning to go fishing on the lake or kayaking in the river and want to listen to your favorite summertime tunes?
Be sure to bring a pair of waterproof earbuds to help amplify your fun on the water!
Whether in your bag on the campground, in the boat, or in your ears, you’ll never have to worry about them getting wet and ruined.
Go ahead, feel that breeze from the water hit your face and sing along to your favorite songs at the same time!
4. Bug Spray
It’s easy to love the outdoors and camping when you’re surrounded by fresh air, nature, water, and the natural sunlight.
Unfortunately, the camping experience also brings bugs which can sour your trip and leave you scratching those bug bites in frustration.
To help lessen potential bug bites, make sure to pack insect repellent!
Those nasty mosquitos and other bugs don’t have to ruin your trip if you don’t let them.
You’ll be relieved if you’re not swatting at bugs around you when you’re trying to enjoy the cooling water and peaceful surroundings around you.
In addition to bug spray, make sure to pack some ointment for bug bites too just in case.
This way, you have the products you need to make bugs and potential bug bites an afterthought while you’re having fun on your camping trip.
5. First Aid Kit
Need somewhere to store that ointment for bug bites?
Put it in your first aid kit!
Packing a first aid kit for any trip is important, but it’s especially the case for camping trips.
Whether on the campground or in the boat, sometimes accidents happen which is why it’s good to always be prepared.
Having medical supplies such as personal medications, ointments, bandages, and even some aspirin can go a long way.
Hopefully, you won’t need to use your first aid kit, but if you do you’ll be thankful you have it.
Camping is a great experience and a fun activity to enjoy with family or friends in the summertime.
These five items might seem small, but they will help make your time camping a more pleasant experience especially if you’re planning to enjoy some time on the water!
Remember: put these items on your camping checklist, always be prepared, and have fun!
